Antique Gold Fill 'Bookmark" Chain Bracelet.

$675.00

This is an amazing 18 karat gold fill and rare bracelet. It’s large and most definitely a statement piece of jewelry.

Gold-filled is a jewelry material made by mechanically bonding a thick layer of gold to a base metal using heat and pressure. The gold layer in gold-filled items is significantly thicker than gold plating and is permanently fused to the base metal. There is a darling little locket charm that opens and has screws on both sides. There is a series of stamps on one side of the locket. These usually establish where and when the jewelry was made. This is an Englis tradition and as far as I know not used anywhere else.

A sheet of solid gold is bonded to a thicker base metal core. Gold purity: The outer layer is commonly 18k gold. Durability: Gold-filled pieces are much more durable than electroplated or vermeil jewelry or any other gold surface. Appearance: Because the outer layer is real gold and thick, gold filled jewelry has the look and luster of solid gold.

There is a magnetic clasp with a ‘guard chain’ so if for any reason the bracelet opens it will not fall off. You’ll never lose this bracelet exquisite piece of jewelry.

Hopefully this will be handed down within a family. 18 Karat Gold Fill is as close as you’ll get to solid gold. I have many Victorian and Edwardian gold fill pieces of jewelry. The metal is still as gold as you can get, even when it’s been worn down from endless love and wear.
