The luster on these baroque peacock pearls are especially pretty. Hues of blue and purple hanging from a thin 14 karat gold fill chain. The design is classic 1920s.

That time period was an interesting decade when it came to fashion. hovering between a lacy Victorian period to the 1930’s deco period. In the 1920’s things had simple silhouettes where dresses were long, narrow and with no curves.

In the 1930’s things became angular. Jewelry had sharp edges in the shapes of triangles and squares. Get this, the ‘opera’ length strands of bead strands were popular (extra extra long) and to keep them from pooling between the girls they bound their breasts as flat as possible. In fact there was a stupid saying. The perfect breast size would fit a martini glass. The round shallow style! Good god!
