This coin pearl is not small. It’s good sized and has great luster. Above is an etched gold ring with a smaller round pearl in the center. The size of the pearl is significant enough to be seen easily. No wall flower here. Of course white pearls are the most classic of gemstones.

One of my favorite groups of women’s portraits are the encaustic paintings from Ancient Greece

Many of these paintings show women wearing pearl earrings. That certainly demonstrates the staying power they have.
