Yum. 1940’s black glass sequin (see below) with large white pearls and white fringe. 14 karat gold fill ear wire.
Measures approximately 2.25” from top of ear wire.
These black glass ‘sequins’ were used as embellishment on 1940’s gaberdine women’s suit jackets. The ones with the padded shoulders! Women were in the ‘boardroom’ for the first time because of world war II. They unconsciously wore larger shoulders as a way of making themselves more masculine but they had a hay day with decorating those big shoulders. Glass, studs, beads and pearls were just a few of the many sew on ornamentation. We’ve come a long way Baby!
