One of the things I like about these is the combination of matching shapes. A gold filigree rectangle with the Lapis rectangle keeps the over all look consistent.

Lapis comes from two main sources. Afghanistan and Chile. The Lapis from Afghanistan sometimes have little gold flecks and is considered the best. The Lapis from Chile can sometimes have white clouds. This Lapis is from Afghanistan

The Egyptians use Lapis in their jewelry and ground it to a powder to be used in paint or markup. Yep. Those Egyptian princesses had blue eyeshadow too!
