I so wish iridescence could be caught in a photograph. The shimmer and flash off this very very large button is staggering. Really. It’s an old button and was worn enough to create a smooth surface.

No doubt a coat button from the 1930’s through the 50’s. It’s hard to pin down because of the classic nature of the button. When I was working with vintage clothing and fabric, before I found my calling with jewelry, (43 years ago) I learned about fashions through the decades. My favorite being the 1800’s. I digress.

The button is connected to a mother of pearl tuxedo button or cuff link. It is around the same age. The button has a small shaft centered on the back.

The necklace has a heavy oxidized sterling chain. This is so simple, graphic and easy to wear given it’s basically black and white. Don’t hesitate on this beauty. It deserves to have a happy home.
