Back in the day, before there were optometrists available in small towns, there where traveling salesmen who visited people in their homes. They carried large suitcases with a zillion lenses for people to try on. (see photo)

They did the exact same thing optometrists do today. “Better like this or this?” Once they sorted out what worked they came back weeks later to deliver the new spectacles to the person needing them. The gasped when they saw that leaves had edges!

This necklace has one of those lenses with oxidized sterling silver and 16 karat gold plated bars. A few vintage rhinestones here and there.
